Yoga

Yoga strengthens, stretches, and balances the mind and body through yoga poses, synchronized breath and movement, meditation, and guided visualizations. Tension and stress are released by stimulating circulation and activating mind-body coordination.  The yoga poses help to develop self-awareness, strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, and concentration. There are also many chair yoga poses that can be done by sitting or standing next to it.

The scientifically proven power of Yoga is its ability to impact the level of the mind-body ‘state’. These practices literally shift physiological states of being. Medical and behavioral research shows that Yoga over-rides the stress response and lowers blood levels of cortisol which clears the slate for optimal performance and develops both mental and physical focus, strength, balance, and flexibility.

Offering yoga to your staff is a low-cost preventative measure as well.   Yoga is known to lower stress levels which reduces the multiple costs of stress related illnesses and absenteeism.   And Yoga-To-Go is designed for the corporate environment.  Office Yoga can be done in a conference room or large office.  Modified yoga poses for the chair, standing and balancing poses are offered so participants receive the full benefits of a yoga class. Office Yoga can be done in business attire.  Mats are not necessary.

Yoga-To-Go for Staff Development and Wellness Facilitator Training.

Yoga-To-Go also offers a stress management training program that allows your staff to become in-house ‘Wellness Facilitators’.  Your staff will learn how to facilitate simple yoga routines, breathing, and  other mind/body techniques.   Staff members will learn how to use yoga and other mind-body activities to de-stress and restore themselves, as well as offer these techniques to other colleagues in the office, or as in-home care for patients.

As staff members ‘become the change’ they desire to see, they become powerful and inspirational models.  Medical science has identified self-awareness and the ability to self-care as the two key factors in maintaining a lifetime of holistic health and wellness.  When staff members can model and share these benefits with others, Yoga-To-Go tools can have a lasting impact on positive attitudes and responsible behaviors.

Benefits of Yoga

Breathing Exercises: Conscious breathing allows us to de-stress, release tension, and calm and balance the nervous system. Breathing is the primary connection to our vitality or life-force. Awareness of breath brings the mind into the body. It slows us down and brings us into ourselves, allowing us to become present. Being present brings our attention into the here and now which is an important condition for optimum performance.

Affirmations for Mind and Body: Words shape our thoughts and inform our behavior. Consciously declaring a positive intention in both mind and body is a powerful way to impact state. Incorporating affirmations with mind-body techniques into a daily routine is an easy and effective way to activate positive thinking and re-energize the whole body. The practice of affirmations can shift negative or critical self-talk patterns into supportive, inspiring ones. When used on a regular basis, the new inner-dialogue becomes the predominant state and the newly formed habit of the mind.

Time-in and Visualizations: Going inside allows us to rest and recharge as well as develop self-awareness. This offers time to explore, reflect, and sort out thoughts, ideas, judgments, and feelings in a non-reactive way. When one shifts attention from the outer world to the internal world, brain waves slow down. The right brain is activated for greater creativity and a deeper connection to the inner self is established. Time-in also allows us to experience peace and make better decisions.

Teams, Partners, and Yoga: Physical, fun, kinesthetic challenges develop trust, cooperation, and communication skills amongst team members. These activities release mental tension and explore physical challenges in a non-competitive way that enhances fitness and whole-brain thinking while building community. They also energize and integrate the mind-body state activating the frontal lobes and the secretion of the neuro-transmitter, BDNF, a necessary ingredient for synapse communication.
